Valerie Thompson - cello

BEN BROWN is Vancouver-based drummer, composer and teacher.  Recent highlights include an 8-month solo European and U.S. tour, where he collaborated with musicians and dancers and studied privately with master percussionist Dame Evelyn Glennie.

Ben is the founder of Music And Movement Mondays (MAMM), an improvisational series between musicians and dancers.

He regularly collaborates with dancers and choreographers and he has worked with Katie Duck, Justune A, Chambers, Deanna Peters and David McIntosh/Lee Sy-Feh of battery opera performance.

As a composer he has created scores for both dance and film including commissioned works for Areli Moran, Jamme Valin and The Western Front with U.K’s Szuper Gallery. These compositions have been featured at festivals in Vancouver, Toronto and Mexico.

He has also performed with musicians such as Francois Houle, Tony Wilson, Wilbert De Joode, Ig Henneman, K-OS and Jill Barber.

In April 2013 Ben received a Juno Award for ‘Best Instrumental Album’ of the year with the group Pugs and Crows.

ANDRIA NICODEMOU is a multifaceted musician, improviser and teacher from Cyprus, specializing in vibraphone. She has received a Master's Degree from the New England Conservatory, in Contemporary Improvisation in Boston, where she lives the last few years.

Andria has been always challenging herself, exploring and going beyond the conventional music boundaries, searching for new sounds and extending the vibraphone sound techniques. Her music is characterized as an ‘open-ended’ play where movement, theatricality and sound are equally important.  She has worked in diverse interdisciplinary art projects, with multi-media artists, dancers and visual artists in Europe and USA.

She has collaborated with musicians such as Joe Morris, Anthony Coleman, Gerald Cleaver, Tayler Ho Bynum, Tatsuya Nakatani, Ab Baars, Anne La Berge, Michael Vatcher, Jim Hobbs, Guilermo Gregorio, Ikue Morri, Marc Sanders, Ingrid Laubrock, among others.

Andria is the co-founder of the Thread Ensemble, that works with educational programs and gives interactive concerts and workshops, focusing to develop expressivity and creativity through improvisation.

In July of 2014 she received from the USA the honorary visa for prominent artistic personalities.

ABIGALE REISMAN is a violinist, composer, improviser, and educator. She is particularly interested in eliciting raw human emotions through the musical instrument. Abigale earned her Bachelor's degree at The Manhattan School of Music in Classical Violin Performance. In New York, she became involved with the contemporary music scene and Klezmer music. Abigale went on to receive her Master's degree at The New England Conservatory in Contemporary Improvisation. There, she developed her compositional skills while working in a rich collaborative environment. Abigale has toured the world performing Klezmer, classical, pop, and contemporary music. She has had the privilege to share the stage with great musicians such as David Krakauer, Anthony Coleman, Jeffery Zeigler, Amanda Palmer, Sarah Jarosz, Hankus Netsky, and Jherek Bischoff. Abigale currently lives in Boston performing and composing for several bands including a Romanian band, Metal band, Klezmer band, Italian Pop band, and Free Improvisation ensembles.

VALERIE THOMPSON has enjoyed an active freelance career in the Boston area with chamber performances, recording session work, and sharing the stage with such notable artists as jazz pianist, Fred Hirsch; rock-icon, Amanda Palmer; multi- media artist, Christopher Janney; and with pop-chamber ensemble, Vitamin String Quartet (including a television appearance on Warner Brothers’ Gossip Girl.) She has toured nationally and internationally with ensembles that range from art-rock to chamber folk such as Laura Cortese & the Dance Cards, Long Time Courting, Fluttr Effect, and Goli. In the winter of 2014, Valerie performed and taught on a cultural diplomacy tour of India, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Bangladesh sponsored in part by the U.S. State Department and American Music Abroad.

"Mekaniks is collaboration featuring Mission Creep/Teledubgnosis sonic wizard, Gregory Damien Grinnell, Yuri Zbitnov, and PEK.

While sharing the same improvisatory ethos as other groups in the EC roster, Mekaniks distinguishes itself by featuring cutting-edge looping, sampling and electronic processing as a centerpiece of their sound.

With a sound that hints at musique concrète, industrial, as well as the pioneering electronic experiments of Stockhausen, Xenakis, Henry, and Sun Ra, Mekaniks retains an identity all its own. Mekaniks is pushing the frontiers of electronic, psycho-sonic, transdimensional exploration."
