Sara Deniz Akant's work has appeared in Lana Turner, Wag's Revue, and The Claudius App, among other journals. A recent graduate of the Iowa Writers Workshop, last year, she held the Provost Teaching Fellowship at the University of Iowa, and she will be starting a residency at Yaddo in October.

Jessica Laser was recently featured in the Boston Review's "Poet's Sampler" (selected by Mark Levine). A recent graduate of the Iowa Writers Workshop, Laser has also been featured in Lana Turner and Petri Press, among other journals, and on PBS.

Adrienne Raphel has won awards from or been published in the Atlantic Monthly, the Battersea Review, and Petri Press, among other journals. A recent graduate of the Iowa Writers Workshop, Raphel is currently a PhD candidate at Harvard University. 

Margaret Ross's chapbook Decay Constant was published in 2012 by Catenary Press, and her poetry has been featured in Fence, Boston Review, and jubilat, among other journals. Ross is a recent graduate of the Iowa Writers Workshop, and beginning in September 2013, will be writing poetry in Nanjing on a Fulbright fellowship.

Alex Wan’s Dream Orchestra

Alex Wan was born in Hong Kong. He began to study guitar at the age of nine and performed in bands through his teenage years.

At the age of 15 his family immigrated to the US, and he continued his music career in San Francisco, performing in clubs in Chinatown before settling in Boston. There he completed his undergraduate study at Boston University and graduate study at Harvard. For the past few decades he has performed with various rock, pop, jazz and fusion bands in the New England area.

Nagual is Ian McColm and David Shapiro. Since forming in 2010, they have shared bills with Aaron Dilloway (ex-Wolf Eyes, Hanson Records), Brooklyn experimental music luminaries Zs, Chris Corsano (Bjork, Evan Parker, Thurston Moore), industrial noise legend and Boyd Rice collaborator Robert Turman, Home of Easy Credit (Northern Spy Records), Ben Greenberg (Hubble, The Men, Pygmy Shrews, ex-Zs), Daniel Bachman (Feeding Tube Records, Marmara Records, One Kind Favor Records) and members of So Percussion. Nagual have released four full-length cassettes on Ian's Pidgin Records imprint and toured the better part of North America. In 2013 they began digitizing their catalog, posting digital copies of cassettes that are now out of print. Their self-titled LP is scheduled for release at the end of August on Chicago based Ergot Records.

Ellie Buckland and Isa Burke

Ellie Buckland and Isa Burke are fiddlers and singer-songwriters from musical families who grew up surrounded by folk music. They met at a fiddle camp in the woods of Maine, their shared home state, and are now both studying at Berklee College of Music. With two fiddles, two guitars, and two intertwining voices, they perform old folk songs, new Americana, and original songs in an acoustic roots style.
