OUTPOST NEWS :
SAVE ERIC IN THE EVENING:
Our friend Boston jazz WGBH broadcasting stalwart Eric Jackson is having his weekday hours slashed & Steve Schwartz has had his show axed altogether. Sign this petition and tell GBH brass you're not taking this sitting down. This is part of their general trend to make the station more 'NPR-generic' with less local musical programming. SAVE JAZZ ON WGBH NOW!

Jack
Finnegan, story-teller presents “City Love Song”
This
autumn I will deliver free storytelling performances in 30 cities around
America, a tour that marks the third and final cycle of "City Love
Song," and which will conclude with a return to the Off Broadway stage in
New York City. The story is a traveler's tale of our worldly neighborhood, and
is drawn from a global tour produced last summer--the second cycle in
"City Love Song"--in which a traveler's tale of America was presented
in the public squares of 13 cities on 6 continents.
The
story itself is a lyrical, philosophical celebration of life in its many forms,
and while it is safe for children it is intended for adults. The piece runs
approximately 75 minutes and I am available for Q&A, if desired.

50/50 is comprised of Mark Chenevert on tenor sax and clarinet (Hot Tamale Brass Band, Willie Alexander, Chandler Travis) and Pedro Malaver on drums ( Bentmen, Leo Quintero), in a high energy, stream of consciousness journey based mostly in jazz and improvisation, hitting as many other cultural icons as possible along the way, i.e. pop, rock, klezmer, bluegrass, funk. You might call it "free jazz for the non jazz fan"; you'll probably hear something you recognize.
