Dr T presents Visual Music Live
Dr T - live video mix in duets with

solo : Dave Bryant - piano
duo : Dave Bryant - piano / Jim Hobbs - alto sax
trio : Dave Bryant - piano / Jim Hobbs - alto sax / Eric Rosenthal - drums

My projections are produced by mixing multiple DVD sources a video mixer and effects processors. The sources consist of computer-manipulated original material derived http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.giffrom my still photography and videography. The original subject matter is usually recognizable, but sometimes processed to complete abstraction. Sometimes the projections and music respond directly to each other -- sometimes they simply co-exist.

Many of my finished video pieces (both studio and live) can be seen at http://www.youtube.com/Tobenfeld

Those of you who attend or perform at events at Outpost 186 may find my photo essay "Improvisations from an Outpost" to be of interest,

Saturday 17 December @ Outpost, 8pm sharp - $20 adv/$30 at the door

Naked Girls read Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol!
Sure WBUR does a reading of Charles Dickens' Christmas classic, but does anyone really want to see what those radio personalities look like without their clothes on? Continuing a tradition started in Chicago by burlesque Hall-of-Famer Michelle L'Amour, the Boston chapter of Naked Girls reading will strip down to their Christmas stockings and read every line from "Marley was dead..." to "God bless us – every one!". Seasonal cheer is also available.

Doors open at 8:00 p.m. for a pre-reading reception, and the reading begins at 8:30 p.m. The reading is about two hours long and there will be two breaks.

There are only 35 tickets, so we recommend you get them in advance (and you’ll save some cash too!). Space is very limited. Tickets $20 adv/$30 at the door. http://ngrboston.wordpress.com/

Michael Dobiel's living room concert series presents

I.
Michael Dobiel - saxophone and electronics
Erich Hochstrasser - synthesizer

II.
The Michael Dobiel Group
with:
Kelly Roberge - saxophone
Tony Leva - bass
Daniel Schubmehl - drums
Michael Dobiel - composition

Kelly Roberge has been a saxophonist in the Boston area for several years. Prior to this he studied at the New England Conservatory and Oberlin. The Quartet of Happiness, of which he is a member, was profiled in the Boston Phoenix last year. Roberge has recently added electronics to his palette of sounds. These can be heard in projects such as the one man show All of Us and the duo Saxophone in Machines. Kelly plays regularly in Garrison Fewell's Variable Density Sound Orchestra.

Tony Leva is a recent transplant to the Boston area. He is a continual musical explorer whose interests range from classical to rock to avant-garde. Tony performs regularly with several groups, including Jaggery, Bury Me Standing, and the Metal and Glass Ensemble. One of his most notable learning experiences occurred when he spent time driving for the legendary bassist Henry Grimes.

Daniel Schubmehl is a NYC-based drummer/percussionist. In 2000 he studied drumming and the gyil in Ghana under the Lundquist International Fellowship. Upon returning to the US he moved to NYC and has been playing with a variety of musicians across many genres. He has been studying jazz drumming applications with Brooklyn educator/performer Vinnie Sperrazza for five years and has recently begun piano studies with Jamie Reynolds. Daniel also frequents Boston as a member of the band Jaggery.

Erich Hochstrasser has been studying music since he was 6 years old and is currently a student at Berklee College of Music. While studying Electronic Production & Design and Music Education at Berklee, Erich has also been learning about analog audio electronics in his free time. He seeks to explore the sonic possibilities of homebrew modular synthesizers and modern audio production. Throughout all of his efforts, he ensures that his projects have as many colors and blinking lights as possible.

Michael Dobiel is a musician in the Boston area. Before becoming active in Boston he studied at the University of Louisville and Westfield State College. He is currently involved in several projects as saxophonist, composer and laptop musician. Michael is one half of Saxophone in Machines with Kelly Roberge. He has recently started the Living Room Music series at Outpost 186 in Cambridge.
